BCL welcomes death penalty in rape case
DHAKA, Oct 13, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) welcomed government’s decision of approving the draft of the Women and Children Repression Prevention (Amendment) Bill, incorporating the provision of capital punishment for rape.
BCL organised a joy rally in the campus this afternoon, led by its central president Al Nahiyan Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee, which paraded key points of the campus and ended up at the base of Anti-Terrorist Raju Memorial Sculpture.
While addressing the rally, BCL president Al Nahiyan said, “We are grateful and we thank the Prime Minister for keeping our request by approving death penalty for rape case”
BCL raised voiced to approve death penalty in rape cases and the premier did so and thus, the whole BCL family is grateful to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said BCL General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee.
BCL DU unit president Sonjit Chandra Das and General Secretary Saddam Hussain, activists and leaders of different units, among others, were present in the rally.
