DHAKA, Oct 13, 2020 (BSS) – Former Bangla Academy director, Liberation War researcher and noted writer Rashid Haider was laid to eternal rest at the
city’s Azimpur graveyard this afternoon.
‘Ekushey Padak’ and ‘Bangla Academy’-winning litterateur Rashid Haider died of old-age complications at around 10am here today at the age of 79.
He was buried at around 2:30 pm.
Earlier his namaz-e-janaza was held after Zuhr prayer at Dhaka University Central Mosque with Bangla Academy Director Shamsuzzaman Khan, Dhaka University Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, Professor Dr Abul Monsur Ahmed and Professor Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Department and members of Bangla Academy Board of Directors in attendance.
