Gaibandha flood victims to get 8000 food packages.

GAIBANDHA, OCT 12, 2020 (BSS)- A total of 8000 food packages will be distributed as relief to the flood affected poor and distressed families of the district this week.

The food packages would be distributed at the arrangement of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Gaibandha unit in cooperation with Grameen Phone as part of its social corporate responsibilities.

Of the total, nearly 2900 food packages have already been distributed among the flood affected people of Gobindaganj and Sadullapur upazila in last few days and 1000 more food packages were also distributed among flood victims of Ghaogoa and Kholahati unions on the Sadar upazila this morning.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini formally inaugurated the food packages distribution programme among flood victims of the unions as chief guest.

Speaking at the function Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always stands beside the flood victims like past.

“The government would always stand beside the flood victims in future and provide all kinds of support in all disasters ” , the whip said adding that none would die due to fasting during the tenure of the present government.

BDRCS unit level officer Pavel Rahman said the rest food packages would be distributed very soon.

Each package consists of rice, pulse, oil, sugar, salt and semolina (suji).
