Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2020 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Gopalgonj, Rangamati, Chandpur, Srimangal, Pabna, Nilphamari, Mongla, Satkhira, Jashore, Patuakhali and Bhola and it may continue at some places, said a Met office release here today.

The depression over East central Bay and adjoining West central Bay moved west northwestwards and now lies over West central Bay and adjoining East central Bay (Near Lat 15.7oN & Long 84.5oE) at 6 am today (October 12).

It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded by 36.6 degree Celsius at Chandpur and minimum temperature today was recorded by 22.7 degree Celsius at Tetulia.

Highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 68 millimeters (mm) at Rangamati.
