JAMALPUR, Oct 11, 2020 (BSS)- Awami League nominated candidate won the chairman post of Nowarpara Union Parishad (UP) by -election in Islampur Upazila in the district yesterday.
Election Commission here has declared Md Suruzzaman (AL) as elected chairman.
He bagged 3141 votes. His nearest candidate formers chairman of the UP and independent candidate Md Moshiur Rahman Badal got 2147 votes.
Five candidates including AL, BNP contested in the post of chairman.
Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer, Hosne Ara said the election was held in free, fair and peaceful atmosphere on Saturday.
