Asian Nations Cup Online Chess begins tomorrow
DHAKA, Oct 9, 2020 (BSS) – The matches of the Asian Nations Cup
Online Chess Championship online chess team organised by Asian Chess
Federation begins from tomorrow ( Saturday) at 12 pm (BST).
The first, second and third round matches of the open section will
be held tomorrow while the first, second and third round matches of
the women’s section will be held on the following day (Sunday) at the
same time.
A total of 38 teams in open section and 31 teams of women’s section
are participating from Asian and Oceania in the event including
Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Iran, Australia and Philippines.
Preliminary phase of both sections will be held in a 9 round
Swiss-League system. Top eight teams from each section will qualify in
the quarter final. After the winners of the quarter final will play
semi-final and winners of semi-final will play in the final of both
sections.
Captain Dr. Shoeb Reaz Alam will lead the Bangladesh open section.
The other players of the open section are GM Niaz Murshed, GM Ziaur
Rahman, GM Reefat Bin Sattar, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and IM Mohammad
Minhaz Uddin.
While NA, OI, WCM Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly made captain of the
women’s team. The other players of the women’s team are WIM Rani
Hamid, WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WCM Ahmed Walijah, WFM Nazrana Khan
Eva and WFM Noshin Anjum. FIDE Trainer IM Abu Sufian Shakil is
Technical Coach of Bangladesh.
U$$ 20,000 prize will be given to winners of both sections.
