DHAKA, Oct 7, 2020 (BSS) – In a show of generosity, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached out to a marginalized farmer of Jhenaidah district donating cash and a motor-run rickshaw-van, who set an instance of humanity by sheltering a mentally disabled pregnant woman.
Amzad Ali, a poor farmer of Mayadharpur village under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah, sheltered a 22-23-year old mentally disabled woman of Kolabazar area of the upazila at his own home on humanitarian ground thinking about her physical illness and unborn child.
Amzad himself is a poor man and has no cultivable land. He leads his family only with his own income working in others lands round the year as his only son has been bedridden for six months following an accident.
But he set an extraordinary example of humanity by sheltering the woman despite of his economic insolvency.
However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has come to know about the humanity of Amzad Ali through newspapers recently. Later, as per her directives, the mentally disabled pregnant woman was admitted to Kaliganj upazila hospital where she (mentally disabled woman) gave birth to a baby girl on October 2. Both the mother and daughter are well.
As per the Prime Minister’s directives, Amzad was given a motor-run rickshaw-van today as he wished while cash Taka 55,000 was also given to him for looking after the woman and the new born baby.
Besides, a disability card was issued for the woman.
