HSC exams won’t be held this year due to COVID-19: Dipu Moni

DHAKA, Oct 7, 2020 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations will not be held due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“The results of HSC or equivalent examination will be determined based on the average assessment of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) or equivalent and the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations,” she told a virtual press conference here, a press release said.

Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan and Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor Ziaul Haque, among others, were present on the
occasion.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the educational institutions of the country have been closed since March 17 and as a result, this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations have remained postponed. This year, the number of total students at HSC and equivalent examinations is 13, 65, 789.
