GAIBANDHA, Oct 7, 2020(BSS) – National Birth Registration Day-2020 was celebrated in the district as elsewhere in the country on Tuesday.
Marking the day, the Gobindaganj upazila administration chalked out the programmes.
A discussion on the importance of the day was held at the conference room of the upazila parishad with UNO Ramkrishna Barmon in the chair.
Lawmaker Monowar Hossain Chowdhury addressed the meeting as the chief guest and upazila parishad chairman Abdul Latif Prodhan was present at the event as the special guest.
The speakers in their speeches said birth registration is now compulsory to get 16 basic services for every citizen.
The chief guest urged all the concerned to bring all the children of the upazila under birth registration to make the government’s efforts a grand success.
A number of upazila level officials, public representatives and social workers including the media men participated in the function.
Similar programme was also held at Fulchhari upazila of the district at the arrangement of the upazila administration.
