World Habitat Day observed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Oct 7, 2020(BSS) – The world Habitat Day-2020 was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country and the globe on Tuesday in a bid to raise awareness among people about safe and habitable residence for all.
This year’s theme of the day was ‘Housing for all: A better urban future’.
Marking the day, the district administration and the Public Works Department (PWD) jointly organized a discussion at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC)here with additional deputy commissioner (General) Alamgir Kabir Saikat in the chair.
DC Md. Abdul Matin attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest and executive engineer of PWD here Md Abil Ayam was present at the event as the special guest.
The function was addressed, among others, by-executive engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board Md. Mokhlasur Rahman, and assistant commissioner Shahin Delwa.
The speakers in their speeches said coordinated efforts are must to ensure safe and habitable residence for the people of all strata of life.
The DC in his concluding speeches said in light of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasinas’s vision 2021, the government has formulated an urban development plan aiming to fulfill the demands of habitation and civic services of the people.
A number of officials of the district administration and the PWD took part in the programme.
