MOYAS decide to launch Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer award

DHAKA, Oct. 6, 2020 (BSS)- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYAS) has taken initiative to launch Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award from this year in the name of Prime Minister for her humanitarian acts, said a MOYAS press release today.

“The country has set up an unprecedented example in the world to deal with COVID-19 pandemic under the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The world leaders praised our Minister Prime’s steps to prevent the coronavirus and they are following it in their own respective countries. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been overwhelmed as one of the most humane Prime Ministers in the world. So to keep all the humanitarian acts of prime Minister a memorable as well as showing respect on her, the MOYAS has taken initiative to launch the Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award from this year,” State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell MP said while speaking as the chief guest at a function organised by Gazipur District administration and district social service office.

The programme was organised to distribute grants and cheques of financial assistance programme among the patients infected by cancer, liver cirrhosis, kidney, stroke, paralyzed, thalassemia and congenital heart disease held at Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s office today.

He said in an effort to mobilize the youth to deal with various disasters, Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award-2020 will be given at the national and international level in the name of Prime Minister at the Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020 and this youth award would continue from next year.

This year the Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award will be given to those youth who have set a unique example in the country and abroad by participating in humanitarian assistance in the fight against Covid-19, he added.

At that time, the state minister distributed cheques of Taka 42,50,000, among the eighty five patients, infected by incurable diseases, Taka 50,000 to each patient, and also distributed grants totaling Taka 23,60,000 among eighty five voluntary organizations.

Gazipur deputy commissioner SM Tariqul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (Overall) Mamun Sardar and deputy director of the district social services office Anwarul Karim were present on the occasion.
