Speaker inaugurates renovated Member of Parliament Building-1.
DHAKA, Oct 4, 2020 (BSS) – Speaker of the parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today virtually inaugurated the renovated Member of Parliament Building-1.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much aware of the maintenance and digitisation of the building …In the midst of hundreds of activities, she is giving necessary instructions to renovate the building and various activities are being implemented following her advice,” said a press release citing the Speaker.
The speaker said the renovated building is not only habitable, but its water supply system and sanitation management have also been modernised.
She also mentioned that the remaining MP buildings will also be renovated in phases.
Presided over by Parliament Secretariat Senior Secretary Dr Zafor Ahmed Khan, the virtual function was also addressed by Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Md. Fazle Rabbi Mia, Chief Whip Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury, Whip Iqbalur Rahim, Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed.
