JS body for modern planning to expand tourism

DHAKA, 4 Oct, 2020 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism today recommended to adopt a modern and more up-to-date action plan to take forward the tourism sector having immense potentials.

The recommendation was made in the 14th meeting of the parliamentary watchdog at its 14th meeting at the Sangsad Bhaban with committee Chairman RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury presiding, said a press release here.

The meeting had a brief discussion on the ‘Air Transport (Montreal Convention) Bill, 2020’ and ‘Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act, 2013’.

The meeting also discussed the proper use of the budget allocated for the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism for 2020-2021 fiscal.

The meeting decided to present the ‘Air Transport (Montreal Convention) Bill 2020’ in the next session of the Jatiya Sangsad after necessary amendments.

The committee recommended to the ministry to take more vigorous steps to raise public awareness on compliance with hygiene rules to prevent coronavirus epidemic, added the release.

Committee members Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Tanvir Imam, Ashek Ullah Rafiq and Syeda Rubina Akter attended the meeting.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and concerned officials of the JS secretariat were also present, at the meeting.
