27 Narsingdi journalists get PM’s financial assistance

NARSINGDI, Oct 4, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 27 journalists here have received Prime Minister’s financial assistance to cope with the adverse impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as each of them got a cheque amounting Taka 10,000.

Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT) with cooperation of Narsingdi Press Club arranged a function to distribute the cheques among the journalists at Narsingdi Shishu Academy conference hall on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Syeda Farhana Kawnine as the chief guest handed over the cheques.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) president Molla Jalal, National Press Club general secretary Farida Yasmin, BFUJ secretary general Shaban Mahmud, Zila Parishad chairman Abdul Motin Bhuyian, superintendent of police (SP) Pralay Kumar Jourder and National Press Club joint secretary Shahed Chowdhury also spoke.

The deputy commissioner in her speech called Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as media-friendly personality, saying the premier has been providing financial support to persons in need including journalists as a part of her relentless efforts to make them able to deal with the pandemic situation.

Molla Jalal said all the journalists should be united on the issues of Bangabandhu and Bangladesh, urging the newsmen to highlight the development activities and successes of the government through objective reporting.
Narsingdi Press Club president Makhan Das presided over the function as its general secretary Mazaharul Islam conducted.
