DHAKA, Oct 2, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road
Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the
farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina kept intact and
reestablished all kinds of interests of the country at the
international arena.

He said this in a statement strongly protesting and condemning the
comments made by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at
a press conference today.

In reply to BNP leader’s criticism over government’s efforts in
Rohingya issue, Quader said Mirza Fakhrul is making misleading and
fabricated comments to hide the truth as part of their political
purpose.

The Bangladesh government is continuing bilateral, tripartite and
multilateral discussions to find out permanent solutions to Rohingya
crisis, he said.

The minister said Bangladesh raised strong demands at different
international forums including the United Nations to resolve the
Rohingya crisis and the government efforts are being continued.

Because of the diplomatic efforts of the Bangladesh government,
different countries and the International Criminal Court (ICC) have
been putting mounted pressure on Myanmar to bring back the Rohingya
people, he said.

Before the coronavirus outbreak, he said, leaders of different
countries visited Rohingya camps because of Bangladesh’s diplomatic
successes.

The AL general secretary said Mirza Fakhrul’s inciting, incorrect
and purpose-oriented comments may hinder the progress of the efforts
to resolve the Rohingya crisis and destroy the peaceful atmosphere.

Quader said generous initiative of Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father
of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in resolving the
Rohingya crisis and her diplomatic efforts gained accolades of the
world community, including the UN.

Appreciating the prime minister’s diplomatic efficiency and
farsighted leadership, the world media conferred ‘Mother of Humanity’
title on Sheikh Hasina, he said.

The minister said that the heads of different countries and states
and international organizations visited Bangladesh and extended their
absolute support to the steps of Sheikh Hasina in resolving Rohingya
crisis.

When Bangladesh’s diplomatic success in resolving Rohingya crisis
is visible through the order of the ICC, BNP secretary general’s such
comments hint the party’s anti-country conspiracy, he said, adding
that since the outset of the Rohingya issue, BNP has been making
false, misleading and conspiratorial statements. Quader said the
nation knew BNP founder Ziaur Rahman illegally grasped the state power
and whenever BNP came to power, there was nothing but “kneel-jerk
knee-jerk” foreign policy and corruption in the country.

Actually, political or diplomatic courtesy cannot be expected from
those who grab state power, he said.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s able leadership
has established Bangladesh as a self-dignified state in the world.

In light with the Bangabandhu’s foreign policy of ‘friendship to
all, malice towards none’, Bangladesh is carrying out its foreign
policy and in that way, today the country has been able to establish
strong friendly relations with others, he said.

The AL general secretary said BNP secretary general’s comments are
void of diplomatic courtesy and it again proved the party’s political
bankruptcy.

The nation got frustrated at the falsified statements of Mirza
Fakhrul as their comments seemed that BNP does not want any solution
to Rohingya crisis, he said.
