GAIBANDHA, Oct 2, 2020 (BSS) – The National Productivity Day-2020 was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country today aiming to creating mass awareness to raise productivity in all fields including industrial, agriculture and service sectors.
This year’s theme of the day is “to encourage stakeholders in implementing productivity tools”.
Io draw attention to the concept of encouraging the implementation of productivity tools is the main purpose of the celebration.
Marking the day, the district administration and Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) jointly arranged the discussion at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here with additional deputy commissioner (general) Alamgir Kabir Saikat in the chair.
DC Abdul Matin attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest. The function was also addressed among others by Sadar UNO Prasun Kumar Chakrabartee, district livestock officer Dr. Abdus Samad, district training officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension Rahela Parvin, director of GCCI Md. Ranju Miah and deputy director of Social Service Department Emdadul Hoque Pramanik.
The speakers in their speeches underscored the need for increasing productivity, economic stability and ensuring sustainable development and growth to take the country ahead.
Productivity improvement has been considered as the most important factor for the national economy and it accelerates the development on overall economy of the country, they also said.
Additional deputy commissioner (General) Alamgir Kabir Saikat in his presidential speeches said productivity plays an important role to increase production, savings, investment and employment opportunities to the people of the country.
Recent performance in economic growth and changes in social indicators of Bangladesh have drawn the attention of the global economist, political and business community, the DC added.
The government is committed to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030, declared by the United Nations and to achieve this goal there is no alternative other than increasing productivity in all sectors; he said adding that awareness on productivity among the mass people is very essential, the DC concluded.
A large number of people including govt. officials, businessmen, and journalists of print and electronic media took part in the programmes spontaneously.
