Met office forecasts light to moderate rain

DHAKA, Oct 2, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by
temporary gusty wind across the country.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal,
Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Mymensingh, Rangpur
and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated
places over the country, a met office release said today.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

A low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining west
central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha Coast.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya
Pradesh, centre of the low and thence north-eastwards to Assam across central
part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere
over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 34.8 degrees
Celsius at Sayedpur and minimum temperature today 23.4 degrees Celsius at
Tangail.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 49
millimeters (mm) at Tangail.

The sun sets at 5.44 pm today and rises at 05.51 am tomorrow in the
capital.
