CRICKET-TIGERS-MATCH

Tigers first two-day warm-up game tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2020 (BSS)—Exactly after 200 days, the Bangladesh cricketers will get a chance to play a match when they will lock horns for a two-day warm up game, split into two groups, starting tomorrow at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

This is the first of three practice matches that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arrange for the cricketers to gear up for the domestic league. The Tigers will play one more two-day and one three-day game later.

The last time the Bangladesh cricketers played a cricket match was on March 16 before BCB stopped all cricketing activities due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The cricketing activities were stopped after the first round of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). So the DPL game was the last game the players played. Since then the players have been waiting for the return of cricket. At last their waiting is about to come to an end.

With a two-day warm-up match on Friday (October 2), the Bangladesh team will return to the 22-yard crease. Although the match is not being recognized in first-class cricket, the players haven’t had a headache about it.

The match will start at 9.30 am at Home of Cricket. The 27 cricketers in the preliminary squad for the Sri Lanka tour will take part split into two groups in the warm-up match.
