CHATTOGRAM, Oct 1, 2020 (BSS) – Customs intelligence officials detained a passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with 82 gold bars weighing 9.5kg at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram this morning.
On a tip-off, the officials recovered the gold bars after reaching the body of Dubai-returnee Enamul Hoque this morning, said Mohammad Musa, Assistant commissioner of customs.
The recovered gold bars worth Tk 5.74 crore wrapped around his body with adhesive tape.
The passenger hailing from Chakaria upazila of Chattogram came from Dubai on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines which landed at 7:30am.
Legal action will be taken against the detainee according to the customs law, Mohammad Musa added.
