40 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 30, 2020 (BSS) – Forty more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at the two
laboratories in Rangpur division, where infection of the deadly virus
continues to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 40 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 341 samples collected from the division at the laboratories
in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection rate of about 11.73 percent.

Of them, 27 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 27 patients include nine of Rangpur, four each of
Gaibandha and Kurigram and five each of Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari,”
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 13 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 153 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 13 new COVID-19 patients include six of Dinajpur, five of
Thakurgaon and one each of Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process at 6:50 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 12,018 as 40 new cases were reported from across the division
today.

“The district-wise break up of the 12,018 patients stands at 2,847
in Rangpur, 614 in Panchagarh, 1,071 in Nilphamari, 871 in
Lalmonirhat, 908 in Kurigram, 1,126 in Thakurgaon, 3,399 in Dinajpur
and 1,182 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
