358172 babies to get vitamin ‘A’ capsules in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI, Sept-30 (BSS)- A total of 358172 babies will be administered with vitamin ‘A’ capsules in the district in the upcoming fortnight National Vitamin A Plus Campaign – 2020 (first round), slated for October 4.
Of the total, 37236 babies aged between six to eleven months will be administered with one blue coloured A capsule each while another 320936 babies aged from 12 to 59 months with one red coloured capsule each .
Civil Surgeon of Narsingdi Dr Mohammad Nurul Islam disclosed this while addressing a press conference at his office on the eve of the campaign .
Civil Surgeon said Vitamin A is one of the most important micronutrients for child survival growth and vision.
He said the national vitamin A plus campaign will be observed across the country to prevent childhood blindness, reducing child mortality and strengthening immunity.
Dr Abu Kawsar Shoman, Upazila Health and Family Planning officer Narsingdi Sadar, Dr. Nasimul Islam, , Jahangir Alam, Health and Education officer and Nibaron Ray, former Presidents Of Narsingdi Press club among others spoke on the occasion.
About 40 journalists both print and electronic media took part in the press conference.
