37 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-seven more people were detected positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing 282 samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 37 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing the samples at Rangpur and Dinajpur laboratories while the infection rate was around 13.12 percent.

Of them, 31 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Rangpur city.

“Among the newly detected 31 patients, 17 of Rangpur, three of Gaibandha, two of Kurigram, seven of Lalmonirhat and two of Nilphamari districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, only six more new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) COVID-19 laboratory in Dinajpur.

“Of the newly detected six coronavirus patients, five of Dinajpur and one of Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 8 pm.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 11,929 as 37 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break-up of the 11,929 patients now stands at 2,830 in Rangpur, 610 in Panchagarh, 1,056 in Nilphamari, 861 in Lalmonirhat, 903 in Kurigram, 1,121 in Thakurgaon, 3,379 in Dinajpur and 1,169 Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
