Food minister inspects OMS activities in capital
DHAKA, September 28, 2020 (BSS)- Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today inspected OMS activities at several points in Mohammadpur of the capital including Chand Udyan Housing, Dhaka Udyan Housing and Chandrima Udyan Housing.
During the visit, the minister also spoke to the buyers and assured them of keeping the OMS activities going, said a press release here.
“Earlier rice and flour were sold by OMS trucks which are currently being sold through permanent stores,” said the minister.
In order to keep the prices of daily commodities especially rice and other consumer goods stable, 1.5 tonnes of rice at Tk 30 per kg and 2 metric tons of flour at Tk 18 per kg are being sold to dealers at 120 outlets in the open market at fair prices in the metropolitan by Dhaka Rationing of Food Department under the Ministry of Food, said the release.
At the OMS points, buyers can purchase a maximum of 5 kg of rice and 5 kg of flour each, it said.
Food Secretary Dr Moshammat Nazmanara Khanum, Director General of Food Department Sarwar Mahmud, Additional Director General Abdul Aziz Mollah, Director (Administration) of Food Department Abdullah Al Mamun, Dhaka Regional Food Controller Tapan Kumar Das and other officials of Food Ministry and Food Department were present at that time.
