Int’l right to know day observed in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS): Commissioner of Rajshahi Divisional Md. Humayun Kabir Khandakar today said, right to information act is one of the main tools for achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and containing corruption.

He said this as the chief guest in a virtual discussion meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chapainawabganj.

Chapainawabganj district administration arranged the meeting in collaboration with the Committee of the Concerned Citizen (CCC), Chapainawabganj of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) in observance of The International Right to Know Day-2020.

The Commissioner said, development won’t be sustainable until the people are empowered with the free flow of information.

He asked all the government and non-government offices to keep the door of information always open with their self initiative.

With DC AZM Nurul Hoque in the chair, the meeting was addressed among others by the Principal of Nawabganj Government College Professor Dr. Sankar Kumar Kundu, Principal of Chapainawabganj Government Women College Professor Monowara Khatun, President of the CCC Advocate Saiful Islam Reza and secretary of Chapainawabganj Press Club Shahidul Huda Alok.

DC AZM Nurul Hoque said, government officials should be more people friendly to implement Right to Information Act and poeple must have rights to get information .

Stressing the role of the media men he said that the corruption would be reduced if more information would be divulged to the people and Right to Information Act is one of the Special initiatives of the Prime Minister.
