Digitalization reaches public services at peoples’ doorsteps: Dipu Moni

DHAKA, Sept 27, 2020 (BSS) – With a plan to disseminate 18000 services to the people from different government offices by using digital platform, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said digitalization is the only way to reach the public services to the people smoothly by ensuring transparency and accountability of the government.

The minister in an online programme made this comment as she was opening a total of 130 types of services under the secondary and higher secondary education department which would be provided through a same platform like myGov.

She said as a result of digitalization which was announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the first time after taking office in 2009, the public services have reached to the people.

Chaired by Secondary and Higher Secondary Division Secretary M Mahbub Hossen, State Minster for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the ICT Division NM Ziaul Alam and Director General of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Department Professor Dr Syed Golam Faruque also joined the online programme.

Participating in the programme, ICT state minister said “Bangladesh could not tackle the COVID-19 situation successfully if the electronic filing or E-File and digital content in the text books were not prepared.”

e-Nothi (Electronic filing system) is the single online platform for 19,000 government offices and 1,50,000 officials to serve the 160 million people of Bangladesh.

The government is working to disseminate the services of 18,000 government offices to the people through the myGov app, he added.

Shahedul Khabir, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Department, moderated the programme.
