16 BNP men sent to jail in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 24, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sent 16 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to jail in a case filed over their alleged involvement in subversive activities in the port city in 2018.

Judge of Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the order after the 26 leaders and activists of Bayezid Thana unit BNP surrendered before the court in the case, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

The session judge ordered sent 16 leaders and activists of BNP to jail custody after rejecting their bail petitions.

The court also granted bail to 10 leaders and activities considering their age and illness.

Earlier, the BNP activists granted anticipatory bail in eight sabotage cases from the high court and after expiry of the bail period, they surrendered before the lower court and prayed for bail, but the court sent them to jail after rejecting their bail petitions, the court sources said.
