Bangladesh is on development trajectory: WB

DHAKA, July 2, 2018 (BSS) – World Bank (WB) Executive Director Aparna
Subramani today said Bangladesh is on the strong development trajectory with
achieving progress in various development arenas, including socioeconomic
index.

“I wish the people of Bangladesh all the best in their development
trajectory. Hope to continue to represent Bangladesh the best of my ability,”
she told journalists after meeting Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the
Secretariat.

About World Bank President Jim Yong Kim’s visit to Bangladesh, she said
the WB President has already assured Bangladesh of continuing its supports
for development.

“Bangladesh is the largest fund recipient among the International
Development Association (IDA) member countries. The uses of the fund in
Bangladesh are very good,” she added.

Aparna said the World Bank has recently approved US$ 480 million as grant
to support the Rohingyas.

“The grant will give under several projects. One of the projects on
health has already been approved. The other projects are in pipeline,” she
added.
