46 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 22, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-six more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at the two
laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues
to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 46 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection
rate of 12.23 percent.

Of them, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 24 patients include 13 of Rangpur, seven of Lalmonirhat,
three of Gaibandha and one of Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 22 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 22 new COVID-19 patients include seven of Dinajpur, six each of
Thakurgaon and Panchagarh and three of Nilphamari districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process at 8 pm tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 11,712 as 46 new cases were reported from across the division
today.

“The district-wise break up of the 11,712 patients stands at 2,762
in Rangpur, 602 in Panchagarh, 1,028 in Nilphamari, 849 in
Lalmonirhat, 888 in Kurigram, 1,102 in Thakurgaon, 3,335 in Dinajpur
and 1,146 Gaibandha districts.,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
