75 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 20, 2020 (BSS) – Seventy-five more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing samples today at the two laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 75 new infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the division and the infection rate is 19.94 percent.

Of them, 34 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 34 patients include 19 of Rangpur, two each of Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari, 10 of Gaibandha and one of Thakurgaon,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 41 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 41 new COVID-19 patients include 21 of Dinajpur, seven each of Nilphamari and Thakurgaon and six of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 8 pm tonight.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 11,621 as 75 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 11,621 patients stands at 2,740 in Rangpur, 598 in Panchagarh, 1,027 in Nilphamari, 842 in Lalmonirhat, 884 in Kurigram, 1,072 in Thakurgaon, 3,321 in Dinajpur and 1,137 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
