11 cricketers in isolation after two shows corona symptoms

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2020 (BSS)—A total of 11 cricketers, with 10 fresh cases were taken into the isolation after they had come in close contact with two cricketers who have been identified as ‘borderline negative’ with one of them showing classical covid-19-like symptoms, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said through a whatsapp message.

The BCB earlier at the early hour of Sunday through a whatsapp message said all cricketers found negative after undergoing corona test on September 18 and 19.

Amongst the 11 cricketers, 10 cricketers came outside from Dhaka while another one Saif Hassan was in isolation despite being found negative twice. Saif was tested positive in the first phase of the corona test, conducted by BCB.

Those 11 cricketers are currently in isolation at the National Academy building at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Amongst the 11, a total of five cricketers—Ebadot Hossain, Nayeem Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Najmul Hossain Shanto did fitness training at the Academy ground while other six—Saif Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Abu Jayed Rahi, Shaiful Islam and Saifuddin were in rest.

Other 16 cricketers did a skill camp that began on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Those 16 cricketers however had already checked-in hotel Sonargaon and are in a Biosecure bubble.

“Out of the 27 cricketers for the Bangladesh Team Skill Camp tested on 18 and 19 September 2020, two cases have been identified as ‘borderline negative’ with one of them showing classical covid-19-like symptoms,” BCB said in a whatsapp message.

They will be isolated till September 22 before they undergo another corona test. In fact all of the 27 cricketers, who are called up in the skill camp, will be tested again on that day for further precaution.

“As per the Covid-19 management guideline and to maintain Bio-Secure Environment standards, the symptomatic individual along with all the players who have been in close contact with him recently, have been isolated until the next test on 22 September.”

All of the cricketers will be allowed for training if they are found negative in the test on September 22.
