Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press
statement that 12 of the new cases are imported and 40 are local

Health authorities detected one new infection cluster, traced to a patient
from Penang state who had been screened on arrival in the northern Borneo
state of Sabah, with two testing positive so far.

Another 40 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total
cured and discharged to 9,355, or 91.55 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 734 active cases, 10 are being held in intensive care
units and two of those are in need of assisted breathing.

No new deaths have been reported, leaving the total deaths at 130.

Meanwhile, Malaysia will participate in the COVID-19 vaccine global access
(COVAX) to obtain access to the supply of COVID-19 vaccines, said the
Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in a statement.

It added that the Malaysian government is also preparing the agreement to
join the Coalition for Epidemic and Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), and a
government-to-government (G2G) pact with the Chinese government to gain
