56 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 19, 2020 (BSS) – Fifty-six more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at two
laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues
to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 56 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection
rate of 14.89 percent.

Of them, 23 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 23 patients include seven each of Rangpur and Lalmonirhat,
three of Gaibandha, four of Kurigram and two of Nilphamari,” said
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 33 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 33 new COVID-19 patients include eight each of Dinajpur,
Nilphamari and Thakurgaon and nine of Panchagarh districts,” Principal
of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the
testing process at 8 pm tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 11,546 as 56 new cases were reported from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the 11,546 patients now stands at
2,721 in Rangpur, 592 in Panchagarh, 1,018 in Nilphamari, 840 in
Lalmonirhat, 884 in Kurigram, 1,064 in Thakurgaon, 3,300 in Dinajpur
and 1,127 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
