BGB deployed in 4 upazilas in Ctg ahead of Allama Shafi’s funeral
CHATTOGRAM, Sept 19 (BSS) – BGB patrols have started in four upazilas, including Hathazari, from this (Saturday) morning to maintain the law and order ahead of the funeral of Hefajat-e-Islam Amir Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi.
Sources said 10 platoons BGB along with RAB and police led by seven executive magistrates of the district dministration were deployed to deal with any kind of unpleasant situation in Hathazari and other areas during Allama Shafi’s janaza. The three other upazilas are: Patiya, Rangunia and Fatikchhari.
Dr Badiul Alam, additional district magistrate of Chatogram, said that two platoons BGB members have been deployed in Patiya, Rangunia and Fatikchhari each while four platoons deployed at Hathazari upazila of the district.
Allama Ahmad Shafi will to be buried at the graveyard adjacent to the madrasa after the funeral.
Hathazari Upazila Narbahi Officer (UNO) Ruhul Amin told BSS that BGB members will continue patrolling the whole day today. Cconsidering the overall situation, a decision will be taken this evening on keeping the BGB deployed or withdrawing them, he added.
