2 percent more GDP growth if corruption prevented: DG ACC

RANGPUR, July 02, 2018 (BSS) – Director General (Prevention) of the Anti-
Corruption Commission (ACC) Mahmud Hasan has said the gross domestic product
(GDP) might increase by 2 percent more if corruption was prevented.

“To ultimately build a corruption-free society, we should bring up our
children properly and it will be more effective to infuse good moral values
in them if teachers tell a good sentence on morality daily in the beginning
of classes,” he said.

Hasan made these observations at a views-sharing meeting organised by the
district administration on ‘Corruption Prevention Issues’ at conference room
of the Deputy Commissioner here on Sunday afternoon as the chief guest.

With Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair, heads of different
government departments, teachers, members of the district corruption
prevention committee, civil society members and socio-cultural activists
attended the meeting.

Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its city
unit President Shafiur Rahman, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director
of Rangpur District Combined Office of ACC Mozahar Ali Sarder, addressed as
special guests.

In their speeches, the participants forwarded suggestions for formation of
‘Integrity Units’ and setting up of ‘Satota Store’ in every school so that
the young generations could practice honesty since their childhood to become
good citizens.

The Deputy Commissioner called upon government officials and employees for
rendering services to the common people properly keeping in mind that they
would go the public servants after retirement in future with a hope to get
good behaviour and services.

The chief guest stressed on starting the anti-corruption campaign from own
home to bring up the next generations with all human virtues, qualities and
patriotic zeal to turn them into complete human beings for building a
corruption-free society.

“It is not possible to build an honest nation without honest people and let
us conduct our duties properly form own places to leave a better Bangladesh
for the future generations,” he said.
