RANGPUR, Sept 17, 2020 (BSS) – Leaders of different trade bodies at a
meeting today expressed firm commitment to local administrations in
conducting businesses sincerely to keep market price of onion reasonable in
Rangpur metropolis and district as a whole.
They came out with the commitment in the meeting on ‘Keeping market
price of onion stable’ organised by the district administration at the
conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan presided over the meeting
participated by onion importers, wholesalers and retailers, leaders of
Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RMCCI) and other trade
bodies of the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioners, Additional District Magistrate (ADM),
Executive Magistrates, leaders of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (RMCCI) and representatives of different government departments
addressed.
President of RMCCI Rezaul Islam Milon and other trade leaders and onion
traders also spoke on the occasion.
The participants discussed the current wholesale and retail rates of
onion in local markets, stock of the essential spicy commodity and ways to
prevent hoarding of onion by anyone with an unfair motive.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon leaders of trade bodies and traders
to extend cooperation to local administrations in maintaining stable onion
prices in local markets and foil any bid to hoard the commodity to create an
artificial crisis.
