JS committee meeting on Disaster Management and Relief ministry held
DHAKA, Sep 16, 2020 (BSS) – The 10th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Chairman of the committee AB Tajul Islam presided over the meeting, said an official press release.
Committee members – State Minister Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman, Md. Aftab Uddin Sarker, Mir Mostak Ahmed Robi, Jewel Areng , Majibur Rahman Chowdhury and Kazi Kanij Sultana also participated in the meeting.
At the onset of the meeting, a doa was offered seeking eternal peace of the souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and others killed on August 15,1975 and all the members of the eleventh parliament who have passed away .
Besides, prayers were also offered for the Prime Minister, the Speaker, all the members of the committee and those who are working to run the country.
The committee recommends work-based honorarium for volunteers who assist in conducting rescue operations during a disaster.
The meeting also recommended raising the daily wage of a worker to a minimum of Tk. 500 instead of Tk.200 in the program implementation scheme for the extremely poor (40-day program).
During the meeting, it was recommended constructing steel structure for government construction in river erosion prone areas.
The committee recommended increasing the allocation of the ministry to deal disasters.
Secretary of the ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and senior officials of the minister and senior officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present, at the meeting.
