35 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division
RANGPUR, Sept 16, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-five more people were tested positive for
coronavirus (COVID-19) today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and
Dinajpur district under the division.
Health officials said after testing 311 samples of suspected patients at the two
laboratories, 35 of them were detected with COVID-19 today.
Of them, 27 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the
COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.
“Of the 27 fresh cases, 12 are from Rangpur, nine from Gaibandha, four from
Lalmonirhat and two from Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus
Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM
Nurunnabi Lyzu told BSS.
On the other hand, eight more new cases were reported after testing 123 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur
today.
“All of the eight new COVID-19 patients hailed from different areas of Dinajpur
districts” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS.
Meanwhile, testing of suspected samples resumed at the COVID-19 Laboratory in
MARMC in Dinajpur of Rangpur division after fifteen days, as the testing process
remained suspended there due to technical problems.
Talking to BSS, focal person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients in
the division rose to 11,325 as 35 new cases were reported here today.
“The district-wise break up of detected COVID-19 cases now stands at 2,692 in
Rangpur, 557 in Panchagarh, 993 in Nilphamari, 819 in Lalmonirhat, 866 in
Kurigram, 1,032 in Thakurgaon, 3,248 in Dinajpur and 1,117 in Gaibandha
district,” he added.
