Postage stamp released marking Bangabandhu’s induction as minister in 1956

DHAKA, Sept 16, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) today released memorial postage stamp and its first day cover of Taka 10 denomination on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s induction as minister in September 16, 1956.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar unveiled the stamp and cover at a virtual ceremony from his residence, said a release.

A data card of Taka 5 was also released using a special canceller.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on this day in 1956 took over the charge of industries, commerce, labour, anti-corruption and rural assistance affairs ministry of the then coalition government.

The postage stamp and first day cover will be sold from Dhaka GPO and philatelic bureaus. Later, these would be available all post offices across the country.
