81.75pc COVID-19 patients cure in Khulna division

KHULNA, Sept 16, 2020 (BSS) – In spite of an decreasing trend in the daily number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in recent days, the recovery rate also rises and currently stands at 81.75 percent in the division.

“A total of 17,121 COVID-19 patients healed till Tuesday out of the 20,942 infected people at the recovery rate of 81.75 percent,” Divisional Director (Health) in Khulna division Dr. Rasheda Sultana told BSS today.

Among the total 17,121 recovered patients, 5,310 in Khulna, 2,714 in Kushtia, 2,466 in Jashore, 1,314 in Jhenaidah,1,102 in Chuadanga, 1,086 in Narail, 956 in Satkhira, 902 in Bagerhat, 773 in Magura and 498 in Meherpur districts.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) Dr. Ferdoushi Akter said 195 more COVID-19 infected persons recovered in the last 24 hours till this noon raising their total number to 17,121 in all 10 districts under the division.

The health officials said the total number of infected patients climbed to 20,942 as 78 new people were reported positive in the division after testing 182 collected samples at three COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the newly detected patients, 27 are in Khulna, 17 in Kushtia,13 in Narail, eight in Jhenaidah four each in Jashore and Bagerhat, three in Chuadanga, two in Meherpur districts in the division.

Dr Ferdousi said whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She said all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 21,044 others are being monitored in isolation units in different hospitals under institutional supervision and another 17,313 were released.

The district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 6,154 are in Khulna, 3,683 in Jashore, 3,099 in Kushtia, 1,831 in Jhenaidah, 1,371 in Chuadanga, 1,280 in Narail, 1,089 in Satkhira, 969 in Bagerhat 878 in Magura and 588 in Meherpur.

“Among the total 20,942 coronavirus infected persons, 2,224 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 17,121 have recovered and 363 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

With today’s two more deaths– one in Jashore and another in Narail– the total number of fatalities now reached 363 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 93 in Khulna, 65 in Kushtia, 43 in Jashore, 32 in Chuadanga, 31 in Jhenaidah, 30 in Satkhira, 22 in Bagerhat, 19 in Narail, 15 in Meherpur and 13 in Magura districts in the division,” she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 20,942 Covid-19 patients stands at little over 1.73 percent in the division.

Dr. Rasheda called upon everyone for wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and abiding by all health directives set by government to prevent further community transmission of the COVID-19 infection in the division.
