NSC auditorium rename Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal Auditorium

DHAKA, Sept 15. 2020 (BSS)- The National Sports Council (NSC) executive committee today decided to rename the NSC auditorium as Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal Auditorium.

“Shaheed Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was a combat soldier, heroic freedom fighter in the liberation war of 1971, a symbol of eternal youth and talented lively person. He grew up embracing patriotism and a man of multitude talents,” State Minister Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell MP said while presiding over the meeting held today at NSC conference room.

Sheikh Kamal was a meritorious student and he was a representative of youth. The talent and skill that he left behind in culture and organization management, is a follow-up not only to the youth for our country but also to any age of youth in the world, before he embraced martyrdom at only age of 26, the State Minister added.

Russell said he founded Abahani Krira Chakra for the development of the country’s sports and he also appointed foreign coach ‘Bill Hurts’ for Abahani in 1973.

Apart from football as well Sheikh Kamal was also equally adept in hockey and basketball. So we have decided to rename the NSC auditorium after the name of Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal to cherish his great contribution in sports, culture and liberation war of the country.

Youth and Sports Secretary Mohammad Akhter Hossain, Information Commissioner Abdul Malek , Inspector General of Police Benazur Ahmed and members of NSC executive committee were present in the meeting.
