RANGPUR, Sept 15, 2020 (BSS) – Strengthening capacity of teachers, school staff, civil society, actors and public authorities has become crucial to provide inclusive, equitable and quality primary education to children from marginalised communities.
Officials and development activists expressed the opinion in a project orientation workshop arranged for head teachers of government primary schools and government officials at the hall room of Gangachara upazila parishad in the district on Monday.
Upazila Primary Education Office and Jagorani Chakra Foundation (JCF) under the ‘Realisation of the Right to Education of Marginalized Communities (REALISE)’ project organised the event with financial support of NETZ Bangladesh.
Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (Additional Charge) for Primary Education Khondker Md. Iqbal Hossain attended the orientation workshop as the chief guest with Gangachara Upazila Education Officer Shafikul Islam in the chair.
Assistant District Primary Education Officer Mostafizur Rahman addressed the occasion as the special guest.
Project Manger of JCF Alamgir Kabir delivered welcome speech in the workshop also addressed by its Finance and Admin Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Gangachara Upazila manager Manjurul Islam and Taraganj Upazila manager Asadul Islam.
Head teachers of 20 government primary schools from all six unions under Gangachara upazila and upazila level government officials, local public representatives and civil society members participated in the event.
Alamgir Kabir said proper implementation of the project would definitely improve quality of primary education for 12,900 primary level students belonging to the extremely poor and marginalised communities of Gangachara and Taraganj upazilas of Rangpur.
The participating head teachers said the education programme is being hampered in those government primary schools where the required number of assistant teachers has not been appointed so far for the pre-primary level students.
The chief guest said the government has been implementing various pragmatic and time-befitting programmes to improve the quality of primary education for giving a solid foundation to the children for their higher education in the future.
“The primary level teachers must come to their institutions timely and conduct their responsibility with utmost sincerity to ensure quality primary education and bring the school dropouts to the zero level to build an educated nation,” he said.
