DSE, CSE slip slightly

DHAKA, Sept 14, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) slipped today from the gaining streak of previous sessions as risk-averse investors rushed for booking quick-profit on sector-wise issues.

At the prime bourse, the broad index, DSEX settled at 5092.14 points on Monday with a marginal loss of 1.91 points or 0.03 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down slightly by 0.88 points and 0.24 points to settle at 1756.00 points and 1170.42 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 223,433 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 425.38 million securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 11.48 billion from Taka 13.29 billion in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 143 securities gained price while 175 declined and 38 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,852 billion which was Taka 3,846 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Tasrifa Industries, Pravati Insurance, Meghna Life Insurance, Asia Insurance, Global Insurance, Pragati Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, Janata Insurance, Takkaful Insurance and Federal Insurance.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Brac Bank, Orion Infusion, Khulna Power, Orion Pharma, Delta Brac Housing, Nahee Aluminum and Square Pharma.

The top ten losers were Fareast Finance, Shyampur Sugar Mill, Intek Limited, Union Capital, Khan Brothers PP, Global Heavy Chemical, IFIC Bank, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mill, Apolo Ishpat and Sonargaon.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also slipped from the gaining streak of previous session.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 4.83 points and 4.53 points to stand at 8727.86 points and 14523.43 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 18,955,266 share and mutual funds of 272 companies were traded, of which 114 issues advanced while 124 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged.
