No high-rise building sans RCC clearance: Liton

RAJSHAHI, Sept 14, 2020 (BSS)- Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has sounded a strong warning against unauthorized high-rise buildings as those are posing a serious threat to the public life.

” From now on no more high-rise building will be allowed to erect in the city without no-objection certificate (NOC) from Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC),” he said this while addressing a view-sharing meeting with officials of all stakeholders at the city bhaban conference hall on Sunday afternoon.

Liton said the NOC will be made mandatory before construction of any new building and those refurbishment.

“ The city corporation has already placed a draft sub-law before the Housing and Public Works Ministry for approval in this regard” Liton said .

He categorically stated that construction of any illegal and unauthorized high-rise buildings can cause risks for the loss of human lives and public health. So, all the authorities and individuals concerned should remain alert in this regard.

Rajshahi WASA Managing Director Sultan Abdul Hamid, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazrul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Abdur Raquib, RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin and Secretary Abu Hayat Rahmatullah also spoke.

Authorized Officer of Rajshahi Development Authority Abul Kalam Azad, Roads and Highway Executive Engineer Muhammad Shamsuzzoha and Northern Electricity Supply Company’s Superintending Engineer Shirin Yeasmin took part in the open discussion.

Mayor Liton urged all concerned to construct buildings legally for public safety side by side supplementing the RCC’s efforts for building the city as planned one.

He also said the city corporation has been working relentlessly to build the city as environment-friendly and habitable one .
