Govt working to further boost livestock sector: Rezaul

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2020 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said the government is working to disseminate findings of research across the country with a view to boosting livestock to meet people’s protein demand.

“Bangladesh will be self-sufficient in meat, milk and egg production in future applying the research technology which is being developed and disseminated by the government”, he said in a view exchange meeting after inaugurating an international laboratory at Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) in Savar.

After disseminating the technology, which has been improved scientifically, the country will able to export livestock produces to abroad after fulfilling the national demand.

With BLRI Director General Dr Nathu Ram Sarker in the chair, the meeting was also attended, among others, by Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Rawnak Mahmud, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr Abdul Jabbar Sikder and other ministry officials.
