Liton opens construction work of 25-storey Bangabandhu tower

RAJSHAHI, Sept 13, 2020 (BSS) – A 25-storey modern Bangabandhu tower is going to be constructed in Rajshahi city with a decorative and attractive look for the first time in the country’s northwest region.

National Housing Authority (NHA) of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works will construct the building on around 6.15 bugha of land at Upashahar New Market area with an estimated cost of around Taka 150 crore.

Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton opened the construction works of the building on Saturday saying the Bangabandhu Tower will be attractive and eye-catching and it will be the ever-highest building across North Bengal.

He said the Bangabandhu tower will be able to familiarize Rajshahi throughout the Bangladesh afresh.

Of the 25-storey building, 22 storied will be visible on the ground, while the rest three storied will remain underground. Apart from this, there will be necessary arrangements and scopes in the building so that the people in general can get knowledge about the life, works and devotion of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a whole.

NHA Circle Engineer Shamsul Alam, Executive Engineer Kaoshar Murshed and Sub-divisional Engineer Kazi Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion. Engineer Shamsul Alam told the audience that the ground floor will be the green zone, while the next six floors will be used for commercial purposes and the upward floors for residential.

Besides, there will be a 40,000 square-feet spacious mosque in the building where around 2,500 devotees can say prayers at a time.
