Govt. delivering food for people in need – Zakir

KURIGRAM, Sep 12, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Zakir Hossain today distributed essential food items to 840 flood victims in six unions of Roumari upazila, organized with the initiatives of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

“The government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working hard to deal with the natural calamities with continuing development of the country and welfare of people,” Zakir said while speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of distribution of food items among flood victims function, at CG Zaman Government High School premises in Roumari upazila here, said a release.

“As long as the country is in the hands of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh will not lose its way,” he said praising the leadership of the premier.

The state minister also stated that no one will have to return back without food and no matter how many disasters come, our children will not stay away from school, said the release.

A total 7.5 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of soybean oil, 1 kg of salt and 1 kg of sugar and half a kg of semolina was distributed among the flood victims in the programme.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Kurigram District Branch President and Zilla Parishad Chairman Zafar Ali presided over the distribution of food items.

Roumari Upazila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Abdullah, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Al Imran, Upazila Vice Chairman Mozaffar Hossain, Women Vice Chairman Mahmuda Akter Smriti spoke among others.

Rezaul Islam Minu, general secretary of Upazila Awami League, Abdul Quader, former commander of Upazila Muktijoddha Command, Shahidul Islam Shalu, chairman of Sadar UP, Tajul Islam, former mayor and Abu Saeed Hasan Loman, executive member of Kurigram district branch of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society were also present, at the programme.
