Badal withdraws himself from BFF electoral contest
DHAKA, Sept. 12, 2020 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) seating vice president Badal Roy finally withdrew himself from the contest of BFF president post election.
Badal Roy’s wife went to the BFF Bhaban today on behalf of Badal to submit the letter appealing to withdraw the nomination paper, one hour after the deadline ( 5 pm) of withdrawal.
The BFF however received the latter but as the letter submitted after the deadline so the election commission will now take decision whether the application will be received or not.
Badal earlier announced that he would not leave Salahuddin uncontested and would stand against the BFF boss Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin if no candidate is found against him. He also declared to stay in the battle field till the end of election.
Though Badal withdrew himself from electoral contest, but former national football team coach Shafiqul Islam Manik still remain as rival of Salahuddin in the battle of president post.
The election commission will publish the final candidate list tomorrow (Sunday) for October 3 polls.
