CTTC arrests 4 neo-JMB militants over Paltan blast

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2020 (BSS) – A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested four alleged members of banned militant outfit neo-Jama’atul Mujahiden Bangladesh (JMB) from capital’s Uttara Azampur area.

The arrestees are- Mamun Al Mozahid, Md Al Amin, Md Mojahidul Islam and Sarwar Hossain Rahat. Police seized eight mobile phone sets from their possession, a DMP release said.

“A CTTC team arrested the four from Uttara Azampur area at around 9pm on September 10. The law enforcing agency conducted the raid under ongoing Operation Elegant Bite,” the release added.

Police said they found the link of these accused with the bomb blast that took place in capital’s Paltan area on July 24, 2020. A case was filed with Paltan Police Station in this conncetion.

Police arrested five members of neo-JMB from Sylhet on August 11, 2020, and by interrogating them, CTTC found information about the whereabouts of these four accused.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman placed the alleged militants on two-day remand each.
