Lightning strike kills three in Gazipur
GAZIPUR, Sept 10, 2020 (BSS) – Three persons, including two students, were killed in two separate lighting strikes in the city this noon.
The deceased were identified as Mizanur Rahman, 16, a student of class nine of Gazipur Ideal School, Nadim, 16, a student of class ten of Jangalia High School in Kaliganj upazila and Riaz Uddin, 55, a resident of Jolerpara Biprobarta area in the city.
Thunderbolt hit the students when they were playing football at Shaheed Barkat Stadium during rain in the city, police said.
They were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared them dead.
Another incident occurred when lightning hit Riaz in Biprobarta area while he was catching fish in a water body during rain.
