30 BNP men sent to jail in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Sept 10, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sent 30 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to jail in a case filed over their alleged involvement in subversive activities in the port city.
Judge of Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the order after the 30 leaders and activists of Bayazid and Chandgaon Thana unit BNP surrendered before the court in the case, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
The session judge ordered them sent to jail custody after rejecting their bail petitions.
The court also granted bail to 18 leaders and activities considering their age and illness.
The court also issued warrant of arrest against six leaders and activists of BNP for not appearing before the court.
Earlier, the BNP activists granted anticipatory bail from the high court and after expiry of the bail period, they surrendered before the lower court and prayed for bail, but the court sent them to jail after rejecting their bail petitions, the court sources said.
